Quebec\u2019s Denis Villeneuve will sit alongside eight other jurors and Cate Blanchett, who leads the jury this year. (A tidbit of Canadian Cannes trivia: during the past several years, several Canadians had the honour to be on the jury, including Donald Sutherland<span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">\u00a0i<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">n 2016,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">Xavier Dolan in 2015, Sarah Polley in 2007, and in 1999, David Cronenberg led the jury.)<\/span><\/p><p><strong>2) Directors\u2019 Fortnight<\/strong><\/p><p>Making its exciting international premiere in this year\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quinzaine-realisateurs.com\/en\">Directors\u2019 Fortnight \/<em> Quinzaine des<\/em> <em>r\u00e9alisateurs<\/em><\/a> is Patrick Bouchard\u2019s animation <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.activ.is\/en\/product\/the-subject\/\"><em>The Subject <\/em>(<em>Le sujet)<\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em>Organised by the French Directors\u2019 Guild, this independent section takes place alongside Cannes, and is now in its 50th year! The selection is curated by programmer Danny Lennon (<em>Prends \u00e7a court!<\/em>) in Montreal.<\/p><p><strong>6) Schmoozing opps!<\/strong><\/p><p>Finally, don\u2019t miss our networking and special events! We\u2019ve got lots planned, including the Francophone Producers Coproduction Breakfast, Thursday May 10. Co-organised by francophone agencies, the breakfast welcomes 90 producers and is considered ideal for producers who want to build their international network.<\/p><p>Sunday May 13 is Fronti\u00e8res\u2019 special Buyers Showcase event, featuring a screening of three Canadian film excerpts: G. Patrick Condon\u2019s feature directorial debut <em>Incredible Violence<\/em>; newest film from established filmmaker Denis C\u00f4t\u00e9, <em>Ghost Town Anthology <\/em>(<em>R\u00e9pertoire des villes disparues<\/em>); and Jovanka Vuckovic\u2019s first feature <em>Riot Girls<\/em>.<\/p><p>We also have events with Belgium, Luxemburg and Israel, and will open with the Canadian Producers Spotlight Breakfast on Monday May 14, and close with the annual Producers Network &#8211; Happy Hour which is sponsored by Telefilm, its Pavilion partners, and the SODEC.
