On pourrait d\u00e9crire <\/span>The Cut<\/span><\/i> de Molly Flood en un mot\u202f: glissant. Dans le sens de quelque chose de difficile \u00e0 retenir, ou quelque part de potentiellement dangereux. Peu importe le sens, c\u2019est la description parfaite pour ce film qui raconte une trop courte travers\u00e9e en canot vers un chalet isol\u00e9 sur une \u00eele, \u00e0 des heures de l\u2019h\u00f4pital le plus pr\u00e8s, ce que deux femmes pr\u00e9parant le souper r\u00e9aliseront \u00e0 la suite d\u2019un geste malhabile avec un couteau.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00ab\u202fDevrions-nous rester ou partir?\u202f\u00bb, dit Flood, qui explique que son film est coup\u00e9 de fa\u00e7on qu\u2019il soit elliptique de nature gr\u00e2ce au montage de Maria Todorov-Topouzov (\u00ab\u202fj\u2019adore son rythme qui est un peu plus rapide que le mien\u202f\u00bb, dit-elle), et qui tente de traduire le sentiment de nostalgie qui nous prend \u00e0 souhaiter que l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 ne finisse jamais. \u00ab\u202fNous cherchions un rythme qui rappelle un souvenir qui s\u2019efface, le temps qui file, \u00e0 l\u2019image des \u00e9t\u00e9s canadiens\u202f\u00bb, mentionne Flood. \u00ab\u202fNous \u00e9chappions \u00e0 la sentimentalit\u00e9. Si nous continuions \u00e0 avancer, nous pourrions ressentir la tension dans la question pos\u00e9e\u202f\u00bb.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

La question pos\u00e9e est certainement <\/span>\u00ab\u202f<\/span>tranchante<\/span>\u202f\u00bb<\/span>. Devraient-elles faire plus que de mettre un bandage? Encore plus difficile\u202f: est-ce que l\u2019effort en vaut la peine? <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Comme mentionn\u00e9, <\/span><\/span>The Cut<\/span><\/span> est <\/span>glissant<\/span> : lorsqu\u2019on observe plus attentivement la relation des deux femmes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cran (<\/span>interpr\u00e9t\u00e9es <\/span>par<\/span> Chala<\/span> Hunter<\/span> et <\/span>Molly <\/span>Flood, <\/span>enceinte de huit mois au moment du tournage), on remarque que les m\u00eames questions <\/span>se posent<\/span>. Alors que leurs chemins sont sur le point <\/span>de diverger<\/span>, <\/span>laisseront-<\/span>elles leur amiti\u00e9 leur <\/span>glisse<\/span>r<\/span> entre les doigts? Essaieront-elles de <\/span>la raviver<\/span> ou <\/span>en feront-elles le deuil <\/span>pour <\/span>passer<\/span> \u00e0 autre chose?<\/span><\/span><\/p>

\u00ab\u202f<\/span>Ce film est profond\u00e9ment personnel<\/span>\u202f\u00bb<\/span>, <\/span>raconte <\/span>Flood. <\/span>\u00ab\u202f<\/span>Je craignais de perdre des amis apr\u00e8s avoir eu mon b\u00e9b\u00e9, ce qui est <\/span>finalement <\/span>arriv\u00e9, mais \u00e7a n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi tragique que je le croyais. <\/span>Les <\/span>d<\/span>eux <\/span>premi\u00e8res <\/span>an<\/span>n\u00e9e<\/span>s<\/span> pass<\/span>ent<\/span> rapidement<\/span>, <\/span>e<\/span>t<\/span> finalement, <\/span>le<\/span>s amis<\/span> se retrouvent<\/span>, <\/span>mais<\/span> le<\/span> lien n\u2019est plus tout \u00e0 fait le m\u00eame<\/span>. Je crois au changement <\/span>et\u00a0<\/span>\u00e0<\/span> la r\u00e9conciliation<\/span>\u202f\u00bb<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Soudainement, le titre du film sugg\u00e8re un type diff\u00e9rent de coupure : les liens avec certaines personnes dans nos vies. \u00ab\u202fL\u2019amiti\u00e9, c\u2019est profond\u00e9ment important pour moi, mais souvent, elle est moins valoris\u00e9e que les relations amoureuses. La relation est diff\u00e9rente, mais la peine peut \u00eatre tout aussi intense.\u202f\u00bb, r\u00e9v\u00e8le Flood.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Il est rafra\u00eechissant de voir autant d\u2019intensit\u00e9, alors que les enjeux sont beaucoup moins importants qu\u2019ils auraient pu l\u2019\u00eatre (la blessure profonde caus\u00e9e lors de la pr\u00e9paration du souper n\u2019est pas la fin du monde). Flood pr\u00e9cise que la d\u00e9cision de ne pas mettre l\u2019emphase sur le danger \u00e9tait au c\u0153ur de la d\u00e9marche cr\u00e9ative. \u00ab\u202fJ\u2019ai grandi en regardant beaucoup de \u00ab<\/span> films coming-of-age<\/span> \u00bb qui racontaient souvent les aventures de jeunes gar\u00e7ons dans la nature sauvage devant faire face au danger dans des conditions extr\u00eames\u202f\u00bb, dit-elle, en se demandant pourquoi la grossesse n\u2019est pas consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme une <\/span>\u00e9tape initiatique\u202f<\/span>en soi. \u00ab\u202fAlors que je traversais l\u2019une des plus grandes transitions de ma vie, j\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 penser \u00e0 comment la perte de soi ou d\u2019une relation profonde est semblable \u00e0 la vie et \u00e0 la mort, et qu\u2019une telle perte n\u00e9cessitait un deuil.\u202fEn tant que cin\u00e9aste, mon d\u00e9fi est devenu le suivant : comment rendre un voyage int\u00e9rieur \u00e9motionnel cin\u00e9matique sans faire r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la jeunesse et \u00e0 la mortalit\u00e9?\u202f\u00bb.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
